(Alex Karwowski KAALTVABC 6 News) – 14-year-old Patrick Schoonover was playing hockey alongside his teammates on the Eastview High School boys hockey team when he unexpectedly suffered a cardiac arrest, leading to his death.

11 years later, Schoonover’s father, Mike, stood center court on the gym floor at Dover-Eyota High School, thanking the army of volunteers who helped him complete his 41st free heart screening event for young adults.
