Rosemount Community Center May 9, 2026 – Heart Screen #44

We dedicated this screen to former Rosemount student Kyli Penner, who attended the October 2015 Play For Patrick Heart Screen at Eastview High School. She is one of our first success stories.

  • 179 participants (112 M – 67 F)
  • 144 normals
  • 10 abnormal findings
  • 15 elevated blood pressure
  • 199 taught CPR/AED awareness
  • @SaveStation outdoor cabinet & @stryker CR2 AED

The 10 abnormal findings included 4-Dilated Aorta with Z score ≥ 2.0, 1-WPW,

2-Freq PAC's, 1- Bicuspid Aortic valve, 1-RVSP elevated-1, 1-SVT. We recommend these families see their primary care physicians (PCP) for further follow up and cardiac care.

Thanks to Jessica, Paul & Emma Thiesen for helping to coordinate and promote the event within the Rosemount community. @advocatesforhealth for providing hospitality to our volunteers.

Part of Patrick’s mission is to provide host schools/communities with AEDs. The Rosemount community will receive a SAVESTATION tower and Lifepak CR2 AED that will be placed near the community center. @advocatesforhealth matched our donation, so the citizens and visitors of Rosemount are a little safer in the event of SCA. The towers are weatherproof, temperature-controlled, and protect the AEDs so they are ready for use anytime, by anyone.

We want to thank @philips and the local Philips rep. Jason Anderson for ONCE AGAIN, loaning us 2-echo machines. It is so nice to have the latest technology for our echo tech volunteers to use.

Thanks to Betsy Wilson, Tien Truong, and Georgi Eckstein, for recruiting, coordinating & supporting the providers; Scott Sakaguchi, Bart Laihinen, Dave Homans, Jay Traverse, Andy Schneider, Emily Williams, Mark Haugland and Bob Wilson. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to review the results and explain them to the kids and parents. We are grateful for all you do.

To participants and parents. Thank you for taking advantage of our free heart screen. We know it is scary, stressful, and time consuming. Normal, abnormal, whatever your results were, knowledge is power. We hope you will share your experience with others and encourage friends, family, and coworkers to take advantage of future screens.

Finally, thank you to all our volunteers and P4P team members! Set up, take down, recruiting, data entry, directing, hospitality, and testing, thank you for showing up and sharing your time to help us save lives. You are the reason we are saving others.

From August 2015 to May 2026, the Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation conducted 44 Play for Patrick heart screens. Screened 7,802 kids, found 558 with elevated blood pressure (with repeated check), 418 with abnormal electrical or structural heart defects, taught 6,886 kids & adults CPR & AED awareness and donated 28 AEDs to schools and communities.
